FAQ

Frequently asked questions about applying for a position.

Section Candidate Journey

  • Please describe the process from application to hiring.

Usually two interviews are planned. However, this is subject to change depending on the job category and other conditions.
  • Are there any restrictions on age, gender, or nationality?

There are no restrictions on age, gender, nationality, etc. in the application and selection process.
However, some positions may require business-level Japanese proficiency.
  • What level of English is required?

It depends on the type of job you are applying for. We may ask applicants to make a presentation in English during the selection process, but the final evaluation will not be determined by whether an applicant can or cannot speak English. In addition, associates can improve their skills in their daily work, and can draw upon the in-house language learning support.
  • Is it possible to apply for a position even if your background is in another industry?

Of course it is possible. Bosch actively recruits people from different industries, and many people who have changed jobs from other industries are already playing active roles at Bosch.
  • If you do not like cars, motorcycles, etc., will there be a mismatch with the culture of the company?

No, not necessarily. Of course, there are people who like cars, but there are also many people who are interested in "the latest technology surrounding the mobility industry", and want to improve their own skills and play an active role on the global stage.

Section Personnel System and Training System

  • Can I change positions after joining the company?

Yes. Bosch provides a system for self-development of careers. Twice a year, it is necessary to meet with your direct supervisor and to communicate your career path for the near future, including the upcoming three years or so. Your supervisor will provide feedback to bring you closer to your goals and you can think about your career path together. In addition, there is an in-house recruitment system whereby associates can apply for open positions in other departments and transfer at their own will.
  • Please describe Bosch's in-house training.

Bosch has a dedicated team that handles training, and holds approximately 400 training sessions per year at its in-house training facilities. This training is treated as a part of work, and associates can take courses that are useful for their own growth or in which they are interested.
  • What is the ratio of mid-career hires to to the total number of hires?

Bosch recruits by job category, and the mid-career recruitment ratio is as follows:
    (2023/61%, 2022/68%, 2021/29%)
  • Is it easy to take paid leave?

As a fundamental principle, tracking is carried out every month with the goal of taking 100% of the newly granted paid days off, so it is very easy to take paid leave. Company-wide, almost all associates have achieved their targets.

Section Welfare and
Other Systems

  • Is there a system to support childbirth and childcare?

In addition to ensuring that 100% of associates who wish to take childcare leave have returned to work, we have created an environment that exceeds the legal requirements. For example, under the shortened working hours system for childcare, it is possible to shorten working hours of up to two hours per day until the child graduates from elementary school. In addition, through systems such as childcare leave and telecommuting, we provide associates with an environment where they can work with peace of mind while raising children.
We are actively engaged in creating a work environment where associates can balance work and child-rearing and fully demonstrate their abilities. As a result of these efforts, we have received the "Kurumin Mark" certification. (Certified as a childcare supporting company based on Japan's "Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next Generation Children".)
  • What is the system for career advancement?

We have established a system worldwide in which all associates always have the opportunity to set goals for the year and receive evaluations, and if they wish, consultations are also available where they can talk about medium- to long-term careers three to five years in the future. In doing so, associates can decide on a career plan that suits their own aptitude and wishes, and set up an appropriate work and training plan.
  • Even as a foreign-affiliated company, is there follow-up support for mid-career hires?

We offer many onboarding, training and learning opportunities for mid-career hires. In addition, the turnover rate is about 2%.
